What is Laser Hair Removal and how does it work?
Laser hair removal is a fast and permanent method to get rid of unwanted facial and body hair. The technology has steadily improved over the past 10 years. We use Cynosure's ™ Apogee Elite™ which penetrate deeper into the skin where hair roots reside and disables them. Most importantly, these lasers are FDA-Approved safe for all skin shades.

As the chilled handpiece glides comfortably across your skin, the laser beam, which is about the size of a dime, pulses, targeting dozens of pigmented hair roots. Unfortunately, it does not treat blonde, red or gray hair. The laser permanently destroys approximately 20% of the actively growing hair with each treatment.

What is a Laser Hair Removal treatment like?
The laser handpiece glides across the skin, comfortably cooling it, virtually as fast as shaving. Compared to tedious, painful, electrolysis; most areas can be treated in minutes. For example: upper lip 1 minute, underarms 5 minutes, and bikini lines 10 minutes.

Is it painful ?
Because we chill the skin 1st, you probably will only feel a split-second of discomfort, which is very tolerable and similar to plucking; definitely less than waxing or electrolysis. Additionally, you may opt to use our recommended topical anesthetic cream, TripleCaine. This topical anesthetic should be used sparingly, as directed for specific areas.

Do I need recovery time?

Are there side effects?
It’s unlikely that you’ll develop any significant side effects. Flushing is common which resolves in an hour. With darker hair you may notice slight swelling around each hair follicle, like “goose bumps,” that clears in a day or two. Rarely, flaking, blistering, or pigmentation changes occur; these are usually temporary.

When will I start to see results?
It takes about a week or two to shed the treated hair.

How long do the effects last?
In FDA trials, each Laser Hair Removal treatment was shown to eliminate 20 to 30% of the actively growing hair. This is why you’ll need a series of laser sessions, about 6 to 8 weeks apart, to achieve significant clearing of unwanted hair. A minimum of 5 to 8 treatments are average, although some patients will require additional treatments.
